WELCOME to the 2016-17 school year in art!

Second graders were inspired to create their own "fist bumps" at home.
Fist Bump to you CHAMPS for being so creative.
Stop by the Community Bulletin Board located outside room
#14 for postings for upcoming art exhibits/shows,
workshops, camps, and contests.  Also, don't forget to check out the art galleries we are so fortunate to have decorating our school "home"!  There is new work in the Wall of Stars Gallery located outside the cafeteria and
the M. H. G. Gallery located outside the computer lab.

Thank you to the students recognized for having work displayed in the Fall/Winter 2016
 Wall of Stars exhibit.

STEAM collection area, located outside the Art Room.
We are looking for donations of many recycled items to help with our STEAM projects this year.  Building wide, we are working on creations that involve Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
We are in need of items like wire, colored plastic lids, cardboard tubes, old toys (small/plastic like toys soldiers or slightly bigger), wood shapes, cardboard sheets (8x10 or a bit larger), packing peanuts, etc.
Here are some pictures taken at this year's Art Prize show held in Grand Rapids.  It always takes place the last week in September and is made up of artists with work from across the country.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families to see contemporary art, ART BEING MADE IN OUR WORLD NOW!!!  And the best part is IT'S FREE!!!  So, mark this trip  in your calendar for next year, pack a lunch to feast your belly and prepare to feast your eyes (and ears, many street musicians performing as well)!
